ArchivesNext raised a number of interesting points about the nature of participation in a participatory archive in a thought provoking blog post on building participatory archives.
I was invited to write a post about personal information management (in Finnish) to the blog of HAUS Finnish Institute of Public Management. This particular area of research and practice is interesting from many different point of view. It has huge practical relevance for all of us and same time the management and coping with our own things is an elementary part of successful information work on personal and organisational level.
I participated alongside with altogether five colleagues from the department of ALM in the Conceptions of Library and Information Science (CoLIS) conference in London just before Midsummer. The Scandinavian and Nordic participation was also otherwise quite impressive. This was my first time at CoLIS even though I have had some kind of a general idea of the conference before.
Forskningsprojektet Library 2.0 – a new participatory context vid ämnet Informationsförvaltning vid Åbo Akademi ordnar seminarium och workshop den 15.-16.4.2010. Seminariet samlar experter från de nordiska länderna för att diskutera fenomen kring Bibliotek 2.0 och Webben 2.0 samt om hur de påverkar verksamheten vid bibliotek, informationstjänster och den vetenskapliga forskningen. Under seminariet uppträder en mängd internationellt uppmärksammade specialister som t.ex.

I came just a few hours ago home from this year's ISKO (International Society for Knowledge Organization) conference that was held quite appropriately in Rome. This was my first ISKO conference and one quite remarkable difference with an average information science conference and ISKO meeting seemed to be that when in those other conferences deeply theoretical discussions are typically quite rare, here it was quite the opposite.
