What is a participatory archive?

ArchivesNext raised a number of interesting points about the nature of participation in a participatory archive in a thought provoking blog post on building participatory archives.

I was invited to write a post about personal information management (in Finnish) to the blog of HAUS Finnish Institute of Public Management. This particular area of research and practice is interesting from many different point of view. This was my first ISKO conference and one quite remarkable difference with an average information science conference and ISKO meeting seemed to be that when in those other conferences deeply theoretical discussions are typically quite rare, here it was quite the opposite.

Information Services and Digital Literacy provides an alternative perspective for understanding information services and digital literacy, and argues that a central problem in the age of the social web and the culture of participation is that we do not know the premises of how we know, and how ways of interacting with information affect our actions and their outcomes.
