This chapter provides insights into how archaeological information and knowledge are managed in the digital environment, what major challenges can be identified in that particular domain and what insights for information and knowledge management research and practice can be drawn from a better understanding of archaeological information work. From the perspective of information and knowledge management research and practice, a closer look at archaeological work as a domain can, for instance, inform the development of strategies for managing temporal and epistemological diversity. Major challenges in the management of archaeological information and knowledge include how to address diverse perspectives and needs of different stakeholders and how to better manage social information processes and socially mediated information in addition to formal data and documentation.
