Information work management in corporate financing

The challenges of information work and organisation of information concern equally individuals, organisations and entire branches in the present day society. To be useful, usable and timely, information needs to reach its user at the right moment. The problem is not usually in making a working assessment of the available people, of the available information or of the purpose. The problem is how to make users, information, information and various associated purposes and motivations to converge in a productive and usable manner. The research project discusses the management of organisationally critical work and information work from the point of view of the strategic organisation of information. The study builds on the author's doctoral research (2006) that explicates the interfaces of information work and organisation of information. The aim of the study is to map the existing strategic instruments of organising information in the corporate financing work, how they support information work and what kinds of instruments and procedures could simplify and make the information work more effective and efficient. Simultaneously the study provides practical information for stock market and financing sector on how corporate financing experts form their decisions on the basis of the available information. The outcomes provide both theoretical and practical information on the information work of work in financing, which is applicable for establishing a better understanding of the work itself, and for developing the work and its supporting infrastructures. The applied method of the study is information work analysis, which is an analytical approach for structuring information work and its change in an organiastional context. Empirical research is based on narrative thematic interviews and ethnographical observation.
